Commuting

I got to work and back today on 0.000 gallons of gasoline using only pedal power. All told, I rode about twenty miles including ten in the light rain on the way home. Riding along the Charles River was awesome, but we already knew that. I must say that the rain was not that bad, but worrying about my cell phone getting soaked wasn't fun. Halfway through the day I had even mentioned to Jen that a water-proof bag would be clutch for situations like these. Though, a bag that stays put behind my back would also be nice. What I've got now is a messenger bag which is actually a lot better than my backpack because that one isn't big enough for work clothes and shower stuff. Oh yeah, I showered at work this morning. That kind of kicks ass.

My thought is that there's a good chance of my car getting partially repossessed in a month or two, so getting acclimated to not having one would be beneficial to me. I guess it's not for certain, but eventually Jen's going to get a job and I don't think it's likely that it'll be convenient to keep carpooling with her. There's always a chance that we'll get a second car, but a water-proof backpack large enough to fit my work clothes and my shower stuff is so much more healthy and affordable. Ya know?

Repossessed? Is everything okay? Or do you mean the word in a more literal sense, as in "Possessed by another (namely Jen)?" A zip-lock bag is a cheap dry bag for your phone.

Also, while I commend your effort, you are not really a "zero emissions" vehicle.

The literal, tongue-in-cheek sense that Jen would probably get the car for her commute once she gets a job. The phrase I used was "partially repossessed" meaning that there are very few places in the Boston Metro area where she could get hired that wouldn't lead directly to the decision for her to start taking the car everyday.

I made my last payment on that car in 2008, so there's very little danger of real "repo men" coming for it.
